Following Proper Protocol.

Debbie came for a visit to surprise our Dad for his 60th birthday on September 29th. She flew into the Boise Airport on Thursday, September 28th. I was the lucky one who got to pick her up and take her to Dad's for the surprise. Normally our family times the pick up 15-20 minutes after the flight lands so as to avoid parking fees. I was early and wanted to see her as she breezed through the doors. So, I parked and met her with so much anticipation I was almost shaking. It was good to see her. We trotted on down to the baggage claim and waited. And waited, and waited, and waited. I think we probably waited thirty whole minutes for her bag to appear. Meanwhile, we caught up on each others lives and discussed plans for the weekend. Standing to our right was a group of trendy-funky clad guys who Debbie thought looked suspiciously like a band. And, maybe it was Mat Kearney because he had been here before. But, he was also just here in Boise and he couldn't be back already. The guy closest to me asked us if we lived here and if we knew what time Grey's Anatomy started. We told him that we live here, but neither Debbie nor I watch the show so we shrugged our shoulders. He then proceeded to ask what time zone we were in. Mountain. He seemed very interested in his show. Debbie and I continued to talk to each other and she finally said, "I think that they are a band, let's ask them." So, we turned and asked them if they were a band. They were. I asked them where they were from. Nashville. Debbie wanted to know their name. Mat Kearney. YIKES! We laughed and were in shock saying "We thought you might be Mat Kearney". Mat stuck out his hand and said, "Hi, I am Mat Kearney." Debbie was in such shock she said, "That is so funny... My name is Debbie." Mat then said, "That is so funny your name is Debbie?" No, no, sorry... He than shook my hand and that was it. We couldn't believe it. So, we got Deb's bag and headed to my car. I was humming his latest song and thought, "I am definitely putting this in my blog. Too bad Byron has my camera." I quickly discovered that Debbie had her camera. So, I said that we needed to run back and get a picture with him for my blog. Reluctantly, Debbie walked back with me saying that she promised herself she would never be one of these people. Then Angie called me to tell me about Parker's birthday party and I told her the news and that we were headed back to take a picture with him. Angie laughed and called us groupies. The minute she said that, we turned around and headed back to the car (much to Debbie's relief). So, we have met a famous person in all places, the Boise Airport. We later discovered that Mat's song was on Grey's Anatomy, no wonder... If you are not sure who Mat Kearney is, click on this.

Great story! Sounds like the Treasure Valley is getting bigger every day. Did I hear Boise is getting a Cheesecake Factory? Can't wait to see you at Homecoming.
