Oh Brother.

I need everyone’s help. I want to sing Owen a song when I put him down for a nap or bed. However, the only darn song that keeps popping into my head is “Go to sleep little baby” from Oh Brother Where Art Thou and if you have ever read the words to that song, esh, not something I want stuck in my kid’s head. I am looking more for a biblical, churchish type song. Like Jesus Loves Me, but more geared toward nigh-night time. Any help?

Well, among others, we do Jesus Loves Me. It worked so well with Garrett & Kylee I was afraid they would fall asleep when they started going to Sunday School. We sing some silly songs first then Jesus Loves Me and You Are My Sunshine. Carson knows some of the words so he sings along, it's very cute.
I didn't get a chance to comment on Owen's 6 week letter but I wanted to tell you how cool Garrett thought it was that you purposely brought Owen to see him after church. :)

It's not biblical, but I like to sing "Goodnight My Angel" to my kids. Of course "Jesus Loves Me" is a staple too.

You could learn the "Hush Now My Baby" song from The Prince of Egypt. I think Amy Grant sings it on the CD. I know one or two verses.

Ooh! This song just popped into my head. I first heard in on "White Men Can't Jump" HAHA! Anyhow, it's called "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" It was sung by the Venice Beach Boys. It's a really fun song, and if you sang it a bit slower and without all the skat, I think it would make a pretty good lullaby! I might try it too!

This is to Bhrams lullaby tune. If you don't know it I'll teach you

"Long ago there was born in the city of David, a sweet holy child who was Christ the Lord.

Angels sang at his birth, lullaby peace on earth. Angels sang at his birth, lullaby peace on earth."

My grandma Madeline sang that to me to help me sleep when I spent the night at her house. I'll never forget it. :)
