Delicious. Yum-o.

Our peach tree was heavy-laden with peaches. So, I picked, canned and pulled out the trusty recipe for Peach Cobbler. I might just pawn off some peaches on some of you, if you live close...

PEACH COBBLER

2 large peaches, peeled & sliced
1.5 c. sugar, divided in half
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
Dash ground nutmeg
3/4 c. milk

In a bowl, combine peaches and 3/4 c. sugar; set aside. Pour butter into an 8" square baking pan. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, & remaining sugar; stir in milk just until combined. Pour over butter. Top with peaches. Bake at 375 degrees for 45-50 minutes.

P.O.S.T. Academy Graduation.

Josh (our brother-in-law) has done it! He finished three long months of POST (Peace Officer Standards & Training). He graduated on Friday. Josh was the class president and therefore gave a speech (first picture). The next picture is of him before he got his diploma. The last picture is him standing next to the records at the academy. You can see that he holds the record for sit-ups in one minute. It was all pretty impressive, so if you see him, give him a big congratulations.

Heathens.

Well, Byron, Anthony and I did not go to church on Sunday. Thus the blog title. Instead, Byron talked me into going hunting with him and Anthony. They were bow hunting elk. I decided that the hike would be good exercise and that I would get to spend some time with Byron before he leaves for Canada for two weeks (another hunting trip).

We woke up at 3:15 a.m. to drive up to an area around McCall. (I can't say exactly where because hunters never give their hunting spots away.) We hiked up to a special spot and the guys start bugling and cow calling. Now I have always heard that it is really cool to hear the elk answer back, but I never really understood it... until Sunday. It was awesome to communicate with a wild animal! The next thing we hear is an elk stomping its way toward us. Essentially I got about 70 yards away from elk #1 and 40 yards away from elk #2. Neither of the guys got to shoot, much to the satisfaction of those of you who dislike hunting. However, the experience was amazing and I only wish I got it on video to share with you all. Instead I recorded this silly video. Try to enjoy:

We did see some deer too. Here is proof.

Please secure your property ma'am.

"Are your parent's home?" Is the first question I was asked as I was pulling out of my driveway this morning. A red taurus-type car met me on my driveway and the driver rolled down his window. I noticed his Canyon County Sheriff lanyard around his neck and immediately responded with "Why?" Which I quickly followed with, "this is actually my house." He responded with, "Oh, sorry. Your neighbors next door in the brown house are criminals and have been running burglary operations out of their house. You might want to go lock everything up that isn't nailed down. We will be searching their house today with a warrant." I assured him that I would go back to the house and lock everything up right then. He told me that that would be a good idea. Kelly, what is the deal with our neighborhoods?? (See Kelly's Wednesday, August 9, 2006 post.)

Another Baby.

Another baby has been brought into this world. This time Ryan and Becky Frank are the proud parents. With Emily, Alaina and Lila as big sisters. Rylan Jeremiah will have his hands full with three girls who will try to dress him up and play Barbies. He weighed in at 8lbs. 1oz. (I believe) and was born Monday morning around 8am. Apparently he has the trademark Frank chin (with a little dimple).

Next will be Anthony and Marissa; September 25th is the due date. And after that... one in February, but I can't tell you who it is yet (and NO, it is not me!).
